John Dorsey

John Dorsey John Dorsey is an attorney with nearly twenty years of litigation and transactional experience in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts. His practice focuses on construction, real estate and commercial matters. John comes to Davis Bucco after previously serving as in-house counsel at the Keating Building Company, and the Tutor Perini Corporation, where he managed over $1 billion in subcontractor procurement as well as owner-contactor agreement negotiations, public procurement, litigation and corporate matters. He also served as a Senior Associate at the law firm Richardson Patel where he litigated complex construction and commercial matters in multiple jurisdictions before opening his own firm to focus on the efficient delivery of legal services to construction, real estate and commercial clients.

John also served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts litigating public construction and other public contract disputes. Prior to serving as an Assistant Attorney General, John served as an Assistant Commissioner for the Boston Inspection Services Department where he prosecuted distressed property cases, and developed polices to implement building, housing and zoning code regulations for the City of Boston.

In his two decades of professional and legal experience, he has demonstrated a broad range of ability and experience. He has litigated hundreds of jury, non-jury and arbitration cases in multiple jurisdictions involving major construction and real estate disputes in the gaming, higher education, and housing industries as well as large public sector projects. His transactional experience includes drafting, negotiating and advising on contractual matters as well as corporate formation and operations. He has previously lead owner agreement negotiations for major gaming and higher education projects. His practice also includes representing medical practitioners on regulatory matters, contracts, and corporate formation issues. He has regularly written articles and lectured on commercial issues facing the construction and real estate industry.

Prior to practicing law, John worked in television news and served as Deputy Communications Director for the former Boston Mayor, Thomas M. Menino. He attended Boston University, where he was a four-year member and team captain of the NCCA Division 1 Varsity Heavyweight Crew Team. He attended Suffolk University Law School.
